How to watermark a PDF online

Load your document

Type the text you want to stamp, then tune the font size, rotation angle, opacity and colour until the preview looks right.

Pick tiled for a repeating security pattern, or centre, diagonal, top and bottom for a single clean stamp.

PDF watermark tool — frequently asked questions

Tiled repeats your watermark across the whole page in a diagonal grid, the classic “CONFIDENTIAL” security pattern used on invoices, contracts and reports. Use the rotation slider to change the tilt of the repeating text.

Yes. Untick “Apply to every page” and enter the pages you want, for example 1-3, 7. Every other page is copied through to the new document completely untouched.

The built-in PDF fonts cover standard Latin letters, digits and common punctuation. Characters from other scripts — for example Arabic, Chinese or Devanagari — cannot be embedded with the standard fonts and will raise an error.

The watermark is burned into the page content of a brand new PDF. Your original document stays untouched on your device, and the stamped copy is downloaded as watermarked.pdf.
